Maintenance Tips for

Your New Carpet.

  • Trim loose ends or "sprouts" evenly with the pile surface. Don't pull them out.

  • Smooth the area with your fingers.
Avoid sharp edges like those on vacuum cleaners, toys, high heels, or animal claws.

Pile Crushing
  • Shift furniture regularly to reduce crushing.

  • Restore crushed areas by placing a damp, clean white cloth over them and carefully applying heat with a low setting electric iron.

  • Brush the pile lightly to restore it while the area is still hot.

  • Some carpet styles may exhibit shading after traffic.

  • Brush the pile in one direction to temporarily correct shading.

  • Understand that shading is part of the carpet's styling and should not be confused with color fading.

Pile Distortion/Roll Crush
  • Vacuum the carpet.

  • Increase room humidity to 50% or more.

  • Allow time for the pile to recover, with several weeks in humid conditions and longer in low humidity conditions.
